SK Telecom Open - Korea

FRI 21st: With rounds of 75, 72 (+3) I finished just past mid pack and four shots from playing the weekend. The 2nd round was off to a good start with 3 under through 6 holes. I gave myself quite a few outside chances, but couldn't make any coming in, and a couple late back 9 bogies made it hard to be where I wanted to. Really enjoyed my week as far as knowing I have what it takes, and that I need to improve a few areas over the next month. The best part about playing these tournaments is playing with world class players, and for me I learn very quickly that there is such a small margin between us, but that makes all the difference.

WED 19th: Practise round today. My tee time for Thursday is 1.20pm, and Friday 8.30am. Course is looking really exciting to play. Lots of visually great holes, big slopey greens and rock cliffs like The Hills in Queenstown. This golf course has 4 courses and we are playing the Ocean Course.

With rounds of 75, 75 (+6) I fell short of the cut here in Seoul by 1 shot. It was a bit disappointing as when I finished just before lunchtime yesterday the looked to be +2 or +3. It goes to show that you can never tell what the cut will be and I get constantly reminded I will always need to play my own game one shot at a time. Which is what I fell victim too late in my round. It was a pretty interesting course to play. Probably the hilliest course I have ever played, two 200m par 3's played 30 and 40 meters down hill! The greens were pretty good, but sandy and you had to be under the hole even if it meant missing the green it was that severe. Here in Korea they are still adjusting to making their tournaments up to the standard of Australasia, but they are getting there. It is quite a beautiful country, especially teeing off at 6.36am yesterday in 9 degrees! This golf club would rate about middle of the pack in New Zealand, but still costs about one million dollars to be a member for a year, so we have it pretty good in New Zealand and Australia.

My Next Tournament is the SK Telecom here in Korea in just over 1 week. I am looking at staying here at this stage.q

Arrived in Seoul

Seoul

Its been a very long day here in Seoul. 30 Hours of traveling is really taking its toll all the way from PNG. It is now good to be here. I've walked 9 holes already and play tomorrow. Quite a different course. Will have some photos through the week. This weeks tournament is called the 29th GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship, Namseoul CC, Seoul, South Korea. The website is http://www.oneasia.asia/

PNG Results

Updates have been a bit sparse while I have been in PNG. Here are my results:
Morobe Open: 71, 73, 73, 71 = 25th
PNG Open: 76, 75, 75, 73 = 30th
The results weren't great, but made some progress I was happy with in a couple of areas.
Now I fly to Korea.
