NSW PGA Championship

dale, kerry, hamish wollongong 09

I have arrived in Wollongong today and met my billet. Above from L to R, Dale Clarke (Traveling partner aka D.O.G.G.), Kerry Todd (Our billet for the week and my caddie), and myself. This weeks NSW PGA Championship is being played at the Wollongong Golf Club about an hour south of Sydney Airport. The golf course is right on the beach and the sand is white as you can see in the photo above. The course is has very similar grass as Mt Manganui Golf Club where I used to play as an amateur. So after first look I quite like the course. Should be a lot of birdies this week.

Australian Masters

Through two rounds of the Australian Masters I had 73, 75 (+4). The cut was +3.
This week I am heading to Wollongong for the NSW PGA, the the NSW Open in the Hunter Valley.

Its warming up here in Melbourne at the moment. My tee off Thursday is at 1.20pm at Kingston Heath Golf Club. I'm on the opposite side of the draw from Tiger so I should miss the Tiger Mania thats hitting Melbourne. Below is Tiger playing the 17th Hole in the practice round.

Bunbury Golf Club - Hole 10 - Par 3 - 120m

Two weeks in Western Australia have come to an end. It has been a very enjoyable time. The first week at the WA Open in Perth was my first tournament after a few weeks break in NZ. I played good but my short game was far from okay. So I spent the weekend working on it and put together a 2nd place finish at the WA PGA in Bunbury. It was a roller coaster week with scores of 68, 70, 70, 74 (-6). I was in 3rd after two rounds and moved into a tie for the lead after 3 rounds and was tied for the lead on the last hole. Finishing on a missed putt wasn't how I wanted it to finish the tournament, but will take it on the chin and do better the next time I'm in that situation. I took an amazing amount of positives from the week. Taking the lead a few times and clawing myself back into contention were just a couple of the great feelings I gained from the week.
